about

Frozen Moments represents the seventh release in the ongoing project of making available the audio tracks from my YouTube flute videos. Included are several songs that were recorded in the same locations but with with a portable digital recorder. This time around, you are treated to 41 Native American-style flute songs played solo and created "in the moment." You are welcome to download all of these tracks for free as before. This set clocks in at exactly 70 minutes, so a single CD-R will suffice for those who like to burn those.

Please do consider donating something if you enjoy what you hear and can afford to do so!

As with the previous releases in this series, a complete download includes a pdf file that lists the flutes used on each track.

The bulk of the audio in this release has been extracted from improvisations I recorded on video between 2008 and 2012 in the cities of Chuncheon and Wonju in South Korea. Most are from videos I posted on my YouTube channel, but a few are not. Most of these recordings were made in the great outdoors, so my numerous Native American-style flutes are often accompanied by wind, running water, rustling leaves, barking dogs, passing traffic, birds, and assorted insects. These are for the most part unobtrusive and often add a pleasing liveliness to the atmosphere that no studio environment could ever hope to provide. To ensure a more pleasurable listening experience, minor editing has been done to remove unwanted noises wherever possible, and the stereo field has been expand slightly.

Approximately one-third of the tracks were recorded in stereo using my Canon SX20 IS camera in HD mode. The others were captured by my older Canon Power Shot A650 IS camera, which is a monophonic source. As usual, I've edited all the tracks to remove or reduce unwanted sounds & enhanced the monophonic audio to simulate stereo.
