about

These audio tracks are extracted from videos on my YouTube channel. They feature Native American and Native American-style flutes. They have been minimally "cleaned up" and are offered as-is to all who might find enjoyment in listening to them. Tracks 1-14 were recorded indoors and then had reverberation added afterward. All the rest were recorded in the great outdoors, so these include wind noise, traffic sounds, birds, crickets, rustling leaves, and the like.

You may download these for free. Of course, if you wish to contribute something, it would be very deeply appreciated!

All of these songs were spontaneously improvised by me either at home or in places near my home in Chuncheon, Korea using a wide variety of Native American and Native American-style flutes. I played while standing either in front of or a little inside various tunnels that I love to improvise in because of their glorious sound. While I fully admit that these places are often not especially pleasing to look at, they sound incredible, and that sound inspires what I play.

The recordings were made very simply with a Canon Power Shot camera (SX20) that has two small stereo microphones built into it. This was mounted on an inexpensive tripod and typically placed close to the opening of a tunnel to capture the deep reverberations. The camera's mics pick up the flutes and the ambiance of the tunnels very well. (I encourage you to try this yourself!) Some of these recordings were made with the same camera but were recorded indoors in an extremely "dry" acoustic, so digital reverberation was applied in post-production.

about

Allen Bruce Ray Chuncheon Si, South Korea

Bruce has been serenading enraptured audiences of birds, trees, & insects and bouncing sounds around the mountains and inner walls of various concrete tunnels, mostly in South Korea, ever since the Native American flute first beckoned him in 2007. Oh yes, and he also plays to fellow human beings all around the world via YouTube. ... more
