Expressions of Gratitude

from In The Great Outdoors by Allen Bruce Ray

/

about

The elegant simplicity of this tune makes it one of my favorites. It was spontaneously composed after receiving a beautifully crafted F minor sunflower stalk flute from John Mahoney. Yes, you heard that right - a flute made from a sunflower stalk! The inspiration "stemmed" directly from the gratitude I felt for John's kindness and generosity. Thank you again, John. From my own experience and the words of others who know, you have always been a kind, gentle, and generous spirit. May you be eternally blessed as you have blessed me with this unique and lovingly-crafted flute!

Percussion includes an 18-inch Featherridge frame drum, a 15-inch frame drum, a Peruvian rattle, a Kokopeli shaker, and a cedar shaker. A bodhran sample is also employed. This is played at 120 bpm in 4/4 time.
