about

The fifth release of audio extracted from my YouTube flute videos, the final project-within-a-project installment in the "In Autumn" series serves up a healthy 77:54 in the form of 38 solo Native American-style flute tunes. As previously noted, this particularly enormous collection of songs - 100, to be exact - has been on my mind for release for quite a while. It's a lot of music, so I've split it into three volumes for convenience. Many of these tunes were in fact recorded in my favorite season of autumn, but even those that were not manage to convey a certain distinctive autumnal melancholy - hence their inclusion here. You are welcome to download all of these tracks for free.

This three-volume project was quite a time-consuming one to get to the finished stage (though I really do love doing this sort of thing), so as with previous releases, please do consider donating something if you enjoy what you hear and can afford to do so!

As with the previous releases in this series, a complete download includes a pdf file that lists the flutes used on each track.

All of the audio in this release has been extracted from improvisations I recorded on video between 2008 and 2010 in the city of Chuncheon in South Korea and posted on my YouTube channel. All of these recordings were made in the great outdoors, so my numerous Native American-style flutes are often accompanied by wind, running water, rustling leaves, barking dogs, passing traffic, birds, and assorted insects. These are for the most part unobtrusive and often add a pleasing liveliness to the atmosphere that no studio environment could ever hope to provide. To ensure a more pleasurable listening experience, minor editing has been done to remove unwanted noises wherever possible, and the stereo field has been expand slightly.

All but three of these songs were recorded in 2008 and 2009, so most of the audio in Volume 3 comes from my old Canon Power Shot A650 IS camera, which is a monophonic source. I've edited the tracks to remove or reduce unwanted sounds & enhanced the audio to simulate stereo. Tracks 10, 16, & 23 were recorded in 2010 and are in fact stereo audio from a Canon Power Shot SX20 IS digital camera recording in HD mode.
